WE GIVE BACK
At Atkin Jones we recognise and value the importance of operating in a sustainable way and believe this is an on-going process that should grow and develop alongside the work we do.
We have developed and invested in our own Social Responsibility Charter to ensure we make changes and commitments that enable us to operate a triple bottom line.
We’re proud to have achieved Silver Accreditation with Investors in the Environment (iiE), a national environmental accreditation scheme designed to help businesses reduce their impact on the environment – something we wholeheartedly support. We are now working towards Green and hope to achieve this by September 2022.
You can read our full environmental policy here but achieving Silver means we…
Have developed and implemented an environmental policy and have our own Environmental Champion
Monitor our gas, electricity and water use along with our national and international business travel
Review our resource readings so that we can improve our energy efficiency and set new targets regularly
Have created a strategic and detailed action plan to keep us on track and ensure we meet our targets
Recycle our waste and have a plan to reduce our travel impact
Develop and support additional projects that have a positive benefit for our local communities or the planet
Review and present our progress for assessment annually
We have aligned ourselves with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which form part of our strategically developed targets to integrate sustainability into our everyday practices. Through discussions with our clients, partners and other stakeholders, we have undertaken a purpose mapping exercise to identify where we feel we can have the most impact.
The six SDGs we will be focusing on are:
3 - Good Health & Wellbeing
4 - Quality Education
7 - Affordable & Clean Energy
9 - Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure
12 - Responsible Consumption & Production
13 - Climate Action
As part of this we will use renewable energy providers, develop a sustainable and resilient infrastructure for our business and focus on climate action, raising awareness of it through our own efforts and communications channels. By signing up with Ecologi to plant trees and fund projects which directly impact atmospheric CO2 levels, we are further supporting five of our six SDGs.
We are members of the Global Sustainability Tourism Council (GSTC) who set global standards for sustainability in travel and tourism, helping us to operate more responsibly for ourselves and our clients via our sister brand Sanderson Phillips.
We are members of the Good Business Charter, an accreditation process which recognises responsible business practices consisting of 10 different components covering employees, tax, the environment, customers and suppliers.
We are also committed to making a positive impact on our communities through volunteering and knowledge-sharing and have pledged to give back to society through donations to selected charities.
Committed to supporting the Charitable Travel Fund by making them our main charity partner for 2022. We will continue to donate a proportion of our new business profits to the charity to enable them to continue their work in countries who depend on tourism, but who have been affected by events beyond their control.
Made Christmas donations on behalf of each of our consultants and team members to a charity of their choice that’s important to them, as a more sustainable alternative to cards or gifts.
